En los últimos años, en el programa de todo curso o congreso de oftalmología pediátrica, hay dos temas infaltables: la llamada epidemia de miopía, y el efecto de las pantallas (celulares, tablets, laptops y otros) en los niños. Ambos temas están relacionados, son relevantes y sobrepasan el ámbito de la oftalmología. Actualmente la prevalencia global de miopía está alrededor del 28%. Se calcula que para el año 2050, el 50% de la población mundial será miope
