This article describes the experience of implementing the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) at the Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño (INSN) during the 2023–2025 period, using point prevalence surveys (PPS) as a monitoring tool. It details the multidisciplinary organization of the ASP, as well as the educational and clinical strategies developed to promote the rational use of antibiotics. Among the main findings, the prevalence of antibiotic prescription ranged between 44.5% and 51.5%, with community-acquired infections being the most common indication for antibiotic use. However, a substantial proportion of prescriptions associated with healthcare-associated infections was also observed (33.8% to 41.6%). Likewise, a progressive increase in adherence to clinical guidelines was noted, reaching values close to 80% in 2025. The use of antibiotics from the “Watch” group of the AWaRe classification was predominant, particularly in healthcare-associated infections. The results demonstrate favorable changes observed during the ASP implementation period.
